Groups for children and their mothers who have experienced Domestic Abuse
Are you working with, or do you know of, a family who have been affected by domestic abuse (no longer living with it) with a child aged 5-11 years old?
If so: the 12 week parallel Community Groups Programme starts for those children and their mothers in April 2013.
Please note: It is ideal for mother and child to attend together however we will consider children whose mothers are unable to attend.
The groups provide: a safe place for children to have the opportunity to talk about their experience, to help them understand it wasn't their fault and to teach them how to keep safe.
It also helps mothers to explore the impact of domestic abuse on their children, finding ways to heal from the past, strengthen their relationship with their children and plan safely for the future.
Please find attached a leaflet and application form for the group. CGP is part of a Brighter Futures project, so please specify on the form that you would like to refer to the group only and what outcomes you would like to see from the mother and child attending the group.
If you have a family please refer them as soon as possible as we will need to visit the family prior to the group starting.
If you need any further information or want to discuss a referral please contact Brenda Herbert, Brighter Futures - Community Group Programme Coordinator, on 0208 871 5367, 07879848640 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
